Resilience: Develop Problem-Solving Skills

Writer's picture: Jennifer EdwardsJennifer Edwards

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by a problem? I do, on a regular basis. The problem often feels bigger than I can manage and therefore my impulse is to want to ignore it. Fortunately, life experiences have taught me that ignoring a problem tends to make it grow larger.

Therefore the solution is to break large problems into smaller, manageable tasks. The best way to start the process is to be clear about what you want to achieve. The more clearly you understand and define the problem, the easier it is to break it down into tasks.

So, don’t be afraid to be curious and ask questions, especially from others. They may help you to see solutions you didn’t know existed. Plus, they are always a great way to garner encouragement and provide feedback if you come up against obstacles. Remember teamwork always leads to developing more creative solutions and helps us to become more confident and flexible in our future approaches.
